I currently work at Nando’s in the St Davids 2 Centre in Cardiff. I was asked if I wanted to dress up as Barcelo – the Nando’s Chicken Mascot from work – and do some marketing as part of the Cardiff Half Marathon Day.
How could I say no?
I was so excited about doing this. I’d wanted to wear that costume for ages because it looks so much fun. I was even preparing myself for the day by going for regular jogs and making sure I had the right kit – I like to do things properly.
The night before, I even bought the soundtrack to CHICKEN RUN the film, so I could listen on my iPod during the occasion.
Oh the jokes we made that morning:
- Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
- Why did the Chicken cross the road?
- and the obvious setting a good EGGsample for my Nando’s store… oh believe me, they got more cringeworthy by the second lol
Anyways, here’s the vid from the day!
Just follow the link to my facebook 🙂
So, I get back to Cardiff from my parents house in the valleys (where it’s been snowing), only to find that Cardiff is empty and freezing itself. Didn’t really think Cardiff could be this quiet on a Sunday night, but whatever.
Just as I get into my house, I find there’s no food in the cupboard and the central heating’s fucked. Oh great. Time to break out the electric heater and my Lion onesey. It’s freezing in the house!
Just before I get to my room, I go for a quick shopping spree into the city, braving the chill of outdoors once again. The city? Dead.
Sainsbury’s on Queen Street – Shut.
Tesco on Churchill Way – Shut. Fuck.
So I head past Bar Icon to towards the Tesco next to St Davids 2 and suddenly find my legs are driving by themselves, on autopilot, into St Daivds 2 and into work. Why? Fuck knows, but I managed to get food there which is cool 🙂 (ah, the benefits of Nando’s)
Instead of heading straight home after, I figure I’m right next to Cineworld, I have my glasses with me (for a change). Might as well go see a movie by myself, if only to keep me from the cold house longer. So I grab some snacks and a pic’n’mix from Tesco (instead of shopping – what the hell, I’m treating myself instead) and off I go to see the brilliant new Zombie Romance film out – Warm Bodies. Ironic.
And. I. LOVED it 😀
Anyone else seen it yet? If so, what did you think?
